It is necessary to implement specific measures to strengthen the domestic industry. Russia must form a full sovereign cycle "from ore to magnet", otherwise the continued dependence on imports (more than 98%) will remain a risky and low-margin scenario. This was stated by Andrey Andrianov, CEO of Rosatom MetalTech LLC, speaking at the round table "Economics of magnetic redistribution in the chain of critical elements" at the RAREMET-2026 International Congress.
Permanent rare earth magnets, according to the head of the company, are rapidly becoming a strategic resource comparable in importance to oil and gas. Without them, neither electric mobility, nor unmanned aircraft systems, nor modern electronics and robotics are possible. Nowadays, the total demand of the Russian market for neodymium-iron-boron magnets is estimated to be at 900-1000 tons.
Russia is choosing the path of forming a full sovereign cycle: from the extraction and processing of raw materials to the production of high-grade magnets.
The company develops its own production competencies: modern equipment, high load factor, and a yield of at least 95%. Government support measures, both financial instruments and tariff/non—tariff measures to protect the domestic market, are mentioned as necessary conditions for success.
According to Andrey Andrianov, the consistent implementation of this course will allow Russia to reduce its dependence on imports, strengthen its technological sovereignty and take a stable position in the market of permanent rare earth magnets.

Fuel Division of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation (managing company – TVEL JSC) It includes enterprises for the manufacture of nuclear fuel, the conversion and enrichment of uranium, the production of gas centrifuges, as well as research and development organizations. As the sole supplier of nuclear fuel for Russian nuclear power plants, TVEL provides fuel to a total of more than 70 power reactors in 15 countries, research reactors in nine countries around the world, as well as transport reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world is powered by TVEL fuel. The Fuel Division is the world's largest producer of enriched uranium, as well as the leader in the global stable isotopes market. The division is actively developing new businesses in the fields of chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Rosatom's industry integrators for additive technologies and energy storage systems have been created in the circuit. www.tvel.ru
Rosatom Metallurgical Technologies LLC is a single integrator of the Metallurgy business line within the Rosatom Fuel Division, which actively promotes the products of industry enterprises in the Russian and foreign markets. The tasks of the integrator include the development of existing and the creation of new metallurgical production facilities, meeting the growing needs of the market. The main activity of the company is the sale, development and promotion of products made of refractory and light metals, as well as alloys based on them in the Russian and foreign markets. https://rosmetaltech.tvel.ru.
