GIREDMET State Research and Design Institute of Rare Metal Industry, JSC (part of the Science Division of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation), is honored to invite scientists and industry leaders to take part in the International Congress on Rare Metals, Materials and Related Technologies – RAREMET 2026, which will take place in Moscow on May 20–22, 2026.
The Congress is organized in cooperation with leading Russian universities and research institutions, with support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and other federal bodies. The event will be hosted by the Russian Technological University MIREA.
Continuing a longstanding tradition, RAREMET-2026 follows the scientific seminars “Sazhin’s Scientific Readings on Rare Metals”, held at GIREDMET since 1970 in memory of Academician Dr. Nikolay Sazhin – the founder of Russia’s rare metal industry – as well as the international RAREMET conferences held in Moscow in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Over the years, RAREMET has become the country’s largest international platform for dialogue among scientists, technology experts, business executives, and government representatives to discuss the scientific, technological, and global challenges shaping the rare metals sector.
“Rare metals are critical raw materials for high-tech industries, including nuclear, hydrogen, and renewable energy, electronics, aerospace, and defense. The RAREMET-2026 Congress is another step toward building a global platform for cooperation – bringing together the scientific and industrial communities to form sustainable value chains, introduce environmentally friendly technologies, and train skilled specialists for this strategically important industry,” said Mr. Andrey Goliney, Director of GIREDMET JSC.
The Congress program will include plenary and panel sessions, round tables, and four thematic conferences:
·RAREMET-Minerals: Rare Metal Mineral Resources and Sustainable Processing Technologies
·RAREMET-Metallurgy: Metallurgy, Magnetic Materials, Powders, and Composites Based on Rare Metals
·RAREMET-Chemistry: Chemistry and Technology of High-Purity Rare Metal Compounds and Materials
·RAREMET-Functional: Technology and Properties of Rare-Metal-Based Functional Materials for Electronics, Optics, Photonics, Energy Conversion, and Storage
Special attention will be given to emerging topics such as digitalization, artificial intelligence, environmental responsibility, and circular economy principles in the industry.
A specialized exhibition – RAREMET:Expo — will be held alongside the Congress, showcasing advanced rare metal technologies, materials, and equipment. The exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to present innovations, research results, and products to a highly targeted professional audience and to establish new business and research partnerships both in Russia and internationally.
Around 500 participants from Russia, India, China, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the CIS countries, and other regions are expected to attend. The largest foreign delegation will come from India.
“RAREMET-2026 serves as an international discussion platform uniting science, industry, and technology companies from different countries to address the full spectrum of challenges in the rare metals field. Development in this sector is impossible in isolation – supply chains, quality standards, environmental requirements, and access to technology are inherently global. In Russia, through the efforts of our institute, new scientific and technological competencies are emerging that attract strong interest from enterprises in growing markets such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, and across Africa. These regions need technologies for processing rare-metal raw materials, refining, and producing high-purity materials for energy, electronics, and instrumentation. Increasingly, we see demand for integrated solutions covering complete technological transformation chains localized within the source countries. The RAREMET platform provides an excellent environment for direct dialogue, collaboration, and the transformation of scientific ideas into real industrial projects,” said Dr. Konstantin Ivanovskikh, Co-Chairman of the RAREMET-2026 Organizing Committee and Deputy Director for Science and Innovation at GIREDMET JSC.
Registration and abstract submission are now open at https://redmet.en.giredmet.ru/. Abstract submissions will be accepted until April 5, 2026. Various partnership and sponsorship opportunities are available for industrial and R&D companies.
